Random again :)
It's getting time for my night shift to start. And work is not that great offlate. Maybe I should say that a colleague is not that okay offlate. So there are unnecessary complications popping up. Its like a classical example of - Two is a company and three is a crowd!! Well, problems exist at more than half the workplaces I guess. But I just wish, it wouldn't exist at mine.Anyways, gotta deal with the shit..
Hey one more thing. I watched few shows by 'Russell Peters' today. My friend had videos. I swear guys, he is amazing!! He is a 'comedy phenomenon'. The best comedian I have ever seen. You should surely watch him guys. He is so sarcastically hilarious, and he doesn't have a margin to his jokes. His jokes range from deaf people to races to accents to girlfriends to porn!! I swear that guy is too good. Do google out his videos on youtube and watch them. You'll find it really worth watching it. Don't be surprised if you are ROFL or LMAO :-)
I had to go to the temple today. And church too maybe. I'm gonna get allotted new postings from tomorrow and there is one 'dreaded unit' where I don't even wanna step into. I missed to the places of worship today. Just hoping god gets some mercy on me and doesn't put me into that hell.
Well, That's it for now I guess. The day's ending and the night's starting. For me, Work is starting. Something I have not been looking forward to. Especially after having spent a day, which I would smile thinking of.. And knowing that the night's gonna be bad.. Well, All good things come to an end maybe. I just want this 'glad' phase of life to last longer. I want more of days like today. If not more nice people in life, atleast I don't wanna lost the few nice people who already exist in my life :-)
OK guys, see ya tomorrow. Do write in.
Cheers
Loads of love,
Chandana C. Shekar :-)

Just like that...'People' maybe..
Why can't life be taken in a simple way? Why shud it be complicated so much?? As though there aren't enough things and bosses to complicate life, why do we start our own issues?? Well, I talk all this, and a friend of mine says that I myself complicate things in life!! Whoo!! Well, truly speaking, he's right. He is one guy who I know who makes life seem very very easy. It's not that he doesn't have problems in life. He sure does have his own share. But yeah, he knows how to tackle life. I swear its a pleasure to spend time with him. He does sure make you feel that your problems are not problems at all!! I dono If i put that sentence perfect. But I'm damn sure of one thing- he does make life seem easy.. Well, I dono If I've changed myself after being with him for quite sometime, but I sure hope I do. :)
Talking about such species, there are others too, 'Typical ones'. Someone who really changed your life big time!. Someone who changed your life- a wee bit maybe. Someone who loves you like crazy, for whom you mean the world and yet, you don't feel a thing and you can't help it either. MOST IMPORTANTLY, your 'ideal guy'. Your perfect 10/10. The person against whom you would never have any complaints. Somebody , of whom, everything and every damn thing seems right , right and just too right. Somebody, who you thought existed only in your dreams and your friends always told you there is no perfect 10/10.. Well, I disagree. I totally disagree. You can come across your perfect 10/10. I swear you can , if your lucky enough and take a proper look. Now all those who are reading this, please don't conclude that I'm saying from my own experience. I'm sure my brother is gonna call me after he reads this and ask me who this guy is.. lolz.. I'm just saying generally people!! I've got friends around you see.. So, 'general knowledge' I would say. ;-) If you really don't believe, then you may believe what you may!! ;) ( I learnt that line from somebody too ;)). But when you get to know that 'you' are not that guy's perfect 10/10, its such a heart wreck I swear. It's just then, that you actually wish that you had never come across him. But yeah, If it was the case with me, I wud surely rejoice that atleast the guy of my dreams exists!! In real world!! It's a different story that some other stupid bitch is gonna have him instead of me ;). Come on guys, I can atleast say 'bitch' to vent my anger and frustration out, can't I???!!??? Unlucky me and 'lucky pig' her!!! What about him, well , I dono :)
Well, here I go again, Life's weird. Off late I've been posted at the 'labour room' at hospital. Kids are born there day in and day out. Every time a kid is born and it's sleeping happily in the warmer there, only one thought crosses my mind- Wish life was always in this stage. No tensions, no hassles. Well, anyways, Life's a mixture at present. I enjoy few moments and few moments get me as low as possible. Or maybe I shud say that, few people keep me happy and few bitches get me low!! Same thing happened today too.One slut got me so royally irritated that hours have passed and I'm not yet out of it!! I should learn new 'gaalis' for her now. I'll google it maybe. I've never in my life felt that I should slap anybody, but her- oh yeah, sure anytime!Even on behalf of others too!! May god never and ever bless that female!! I wonder why is she even a female!!! She should have been born a lizard!! Chipkali saali !!!The worst part is that, she spoils my day and then asks me as to why I'm upset!! Bloody @%$&*@@#^$#...AArrrggghh!!! The more I think of her, the more I'm gonna get irritated. Fugget it. Well, that's something that's on my mind right now. It's very absurd and scattered, but ..well, something atleast :)
Next time for the rest
Love you all and hate 'her' sure.
Keep in touch people :)
Cheers
Loads and loads of Love,

After a real long time..
1 month and 13 days!!... Well, That's the longest I've been away from my blog I guess.. Reasons? Well, none in particular, and quite a few too!!! Contrasting huh? Oh yeah, True.. I didn't restrain myself from my blog for any reason. But yeah, a few circumstances made me stay away from it. At first, The last few days on my blog had very frequent entries. Even as frequent as two entries per day!! I was at home with a leg immobilized then na, so was passing time ;-). So took an off from the blog when I was capable of getting out and doing other stuff :) Then, one major thing happened!! I got addicted to facebook. Oh big time man!! Not networking , but the games!!! Farmville!! All thanks to Neha Silam!! Oh my, I was farming big time there. So whenever i was on the net, I was doing that. I do it now too, but at a lesser rate. Homosapiens after all you see ;-) , we get bored of everything after a while :). Fashion and Mafia wars, Cafe world and a few Mindjolt games popped up later ;). After a few days, my Internet modem conked off!!! So was dependent on my friend's Internet, and I never used to feel like writing anything there. Then had rural postings. So time just flew by :)Now, I'm back. Why? Well, I don't really know.Maybe I missed writing. Maybe I missed my de-stresser. Or maybe came back coz I got to know people had appreciated and awarded me on their blogs. Or even just the plain fact that a couple of them asked me as to why I was away from it for so long!! Well, who really cares?!?!? I'm back and that's all that matters. Am I right or am I right guys? ;-)
Now what do I write? hmmm... lemme see.. Maybe I'll just leave my fingers on the keyboard and see what their dance leads to :)
Feels nice to be back. Hope to hear from you guys... :) Will go through all your blogs too. have a lot to catch up on.. :) . Chao, take care... Enjoy writing... See ya :)

One more relaxed day.. Whooo!!! :-)
Well anyways, looks like again I'll have to write some random stuff. Nothing great happened today. Yet, I feel it's something exciting, coz it's been a 'chit chat day' today. I spent the morning on the phone with my aunt and my cousin's wife until it was time to go to the hospital for my follow-up. Late morning passed by chit chatting with Mommy dearest :). No doubt I'm her best company when she is cooking :). Had a friend come down to visit me in the afternoon. I'm a patient now you see ;-). He got me a big dairy milk bar. Wow!! I'm haappiiee.. lolz. Had two more friends come down in the evening. So all I did today was chit chat, and somewhere in between, bits of gossip too ;). Was a nice day all in all .
But yeah, one thing I heard about was really irritating. Somebody in authority to give me leave at my hospital, has a doubt that I've not met with an accident and I'm just making it up!! Heights!! First of all, when I called that person to ask for leave, I wasn't even asked as to how I am doing now, or do I have fractures. But yeah, I was surely told to get the medical certificate or else I shall have to repeat these particular days of internship. But that person went and asked my co-interns whether I was really hurt or was I making it up. My friend says that that question was accompanied by a sarcastic smile. And I sure can imagine that!!! What the hell on earth man!! If I had to make it up, I would say vomiting or back pain or even dengue fever (that's everywhere nowadays) and would have taken the certificate for that. Why would I say that I can't walk!! Wonder what people think!! If the same thing happens to their kith and kin and they are not given leave, I wonder how this person would react. I would love to see that, any day, any time. Anyways, at the end of the day, who cares what such people think. All I need is my leave. And about such mean questions and comments that are passed, well, all we end up doing- is bitch about it :).
Okies. I better go do something. hmm...not watch movies for sure. Have been watching two per day since the time I'm at home :). I think I should study a bit. My table looks so clean!! By the way, my legs far better :). See you guys soon when I can find something to write on. Cheers :)

F-M-L ! ! !
"Today when I was talking to my boyfriend over lunch about how hectic my work is and how stressed out I am, coz of my job, he took out his phone and said his boss is texting and it is important. But I could see the reflection of the game of tetris reflecting onto his glasses from the phone!!"
"I saw a kid crying and stopped and asked him as to what happened. All I got, was a kick in my groin"
"Today I discovered that a $40 phone cover does not protect a $500 phone when a 5 year old throws it down from a 4th floor balcony"
"Today I received a text message from my sister saying, 'Good that technologies in condoms have improved so much this day, that mistakes like you don't happen anymore'.Today's my birthday"
One thing that is common with all of these instances, is that, all these lines are followed by, 'f my life!". Wondering where I heard these? Well, I read them . At http://www.fmylife.com/. No prizes for guessing what 'f' stands for!! Check out the site for more. Maybe it'll make you feel better when you feel that your life sucks. Maybe a stress buster. Or maybe a simple time pass!! I feel, it's worth a check, once at least :)

A relaxed day at home
I want to write about some advice that I was given by someone regarding my accident. She said , "The next time this happens, don't shout at the person who hit your vehicle. Stay quiet, cry if you want to, show that your hurt, and tell him that he is harassing you because you're a girl and you shall take this matter to the Women's commission". What the hell ya!! Why are you getting women's commission here? And what does 'cry if you want to' mean? I wonder!! No comments anyways!!! You guys can ponder over this with your own views. I found it weird though! Heights of feminism maybe..
Well, nothing else with the day. Nothing exciting to talk about. Maybe I'll watch one more movie and then hit the bed :). Thanks everybody for all the wishes :). Cheers :)

Sometimes, you pay for somebody else's mistake
My vehicle is not moving at all. Wonder what's with it. My parents are now bent on me buyin a car. But I prefer the scooter. The worst thing is that, my parents are telling me that I'm not supposed to ride my vehicle atleast for a week coz my foot needs rest. Oh god! I hate travelling by auto or waiting for my parents to pick me up. :(
I got leave for two days from hospital. But I wonder If I'll be able to walk around properly when I get back on friday, coz paedo postings has a lot of walking around to do. I wonder If I'll even get back on friday. Have a follow-up at the ortho on thurday evening. Let's see..Well, had plans of taking leave and going to Bangalore next week. But now, my leaves are inevitably meant for sitting at home :(
All of this, just for somebody else's 'mistake' as what that bugger calls it. I swear, I royally curse that ^%&&&$#* who was driving the car. For no mistake of mine, I am to suffer. That guy must be roaming around somewhere doing nothing useful in life this moment, when I'm sitting here at home and blogging coz I'm getting bugged!!
I always knew what suffering meant. I know that my wounds are noting compared to what I see at the hospital. But now I know for sure, what people feel when you dress up their leg and ask them not to move it for days together. Well, my heart's with them sure.
Well, I want to get back to being a 'doctor', from being a 'patient'. ASAP!!

One week at Immunisation
One week of just you and the nurse at the immusation department, with no P.G. or staff that you have to keep reporting things to (trust me, that feels really good) , hardly any work on days other than monday and thursday, no collecting reports and best of all, no taking samples to the laband no roaming around for references :). WOW!! Plus, you have flexible timings. No running to the hospital before 9 am. To top it all, I had one half day per se and a sunday holiday!Whoo, my first sunday holiday in the whole 51/2 months of internship!!! College fest too was at the same time, so I was not there in the hospital in the afternoons :) (coz our college fest events start in the afternoon). Had no problem asking for permission and crap, and no headache of running back for night duty after the events get over late evening.
And yeah, not to forget, I missed two OPDs!!! Missing even one single first unit paedo OPD feels like you've missed hell!!No exaggeration here for sure. Felt like I'm a doctor for a week and not an ayah(In our hospital paedo, interns are just doing ayah's work of taking samples to labs, taking the patient along for all the referenxes and x-rays and scans and blah blah blah). We get to sit in 'The doctor's chair', and not in the one next to it. You have your colleagues coming over to chit chat when they are free and you too are (Immunisation is free on all days except mondays and thursdays), and nobody will question you anything about that. I swear, I was as happy and and as relaxed as I could be. :)
Well, one week gone by, I never realised how swiftly it passed by. Had a real nice posting here. Will have to report back to paedo first unit from tomorrow. That's not something I'm looking forward to. But, as they say, all good things come to end. So did immunisation postings. I'm glad that I got one week atleast. I have got the highest number of days at immunisation amongst my colleagues and all of them are invariably jealous of me. That just gets an impish smile on my face ;-). So, back to paedo emergency ward tomorrow, and hoping this fortnight passes soon :)

Won poetry at my college fest :)
LIGHT OF LIFE
I wished he was here, to give me company,
Until the sky fell down, upon him and me.
But the news of his demise, made me go so sore,
Even before he knew, he'd have a kid to adore.
I yearned so much, to him, say 'I love you',
But fate didn't let me, even a last aideu.
He was my soul sure, he was my world,
Everything I now saw, looked so unpurled.
When all about life, was black with gloom,
And all I felt, was pending doom,
When my bones were racked with grim despair,
And every breath, was just a gasp of air..
When I could only sigh, and only grope,
All I could give myself, was a chance of hope.
I hoped my cloud, would have a silver lining,
Just enough to make this world, a place worth living.
When days to weeks, weeks to months, in me, you turned,
Within me, feelings and emotions, just churned and churned.
You finally entered the world, and wasn't a suprise,
But yet my darling, it took me time, to realise.
You're the greatest gift, god could ever bestow,
The most exquisite joy, than I would ever know.
You're just that's needed, to take away, all my strife,
Just know that my baby, you're truly, The Light of my Life.

The rangoli we did at our college fest

That's the rangoli that my friend and I did at the competition at my college fest. We didn't win anything. Well, no comments about that. But we are really glad that a lotta people liked it and took pictures. :) We had fun doing it anyways :) For those who need an explaination, the picture has a female foetus (thats why the caption says 'her'), who is dreaming to fly high, but is being killed and the dream is being plucked off in the bud itself. We just meant to say, stop female foeticide. :)

Aarrgghh !!
For the first time in my internship, I'm regretting being on leave :( Yeah, you heard it right, It might sound insane, but yeah, its true. I must have said "What the hell", quite a few times now. No intern would repent being on leave. Even I wouldn't in other circumstances. We jump and grab the leaves we can get. But now, there are three things that are making me regret. One- I'm sick :-(. Two- It's happening during Ortho postings of the lot!! Three- I'm royally bored!!! Ortho postings has hardly any work to be done. Coming home by 11.30 am on free days feels nothing else but 'bliss'. And I'm missing out on that.. Wish I had fallen ill during some other postings when I had loads of work to do :( I would have slept with peace..Gave my blood for repeat investigations. Waiting for the reports. Have to call the p
hysician after that. I realise, there are a few advantages being a doctor. Or even a doctors' kid. No need to worry about hospital hours, even for the slightest problems. Things get done anytime. :-) I wouldn't have consulted a physician for this fever. Thought it's viral. But it's been a week and sumptoms aren't reducing. So, my parents need 'expert' opinion for that. lolz. See, when your kith and kin fall sick, you forget that you are a doctor too :-).July 23, 2009
Ink and paper...
I write. People write. They love to write. They might write simple or complex, but they write. But what makes them put imaginations and thoughts into words? How do pictures come down onto paper from some nook of the mind? How do people get time for all this amidst their busy schedule? Maybe that's what you call, 'Inspiration'.

J-L-T
I'm glad I got a 3 day break from the hospital :) Missed two continous OPDs. All thanks to Shruthi's wedding :)
Mysore's weather is back to its normal pace. Just the way I love it. Cool, cold, drizzling, raining... Just the way I always loved Mysore. :) But everybody's so busy with their lives , that my friends and I don't get to hang out much liked we used to do earlier.. Wish to go to Chamundi Hill for a drive someday now.. :)
Watched a movie "The other end of the line". Oh, I loved it absolutely. Two completely different people and one cute sweet love story. That's how I always love stories. Any girl who is romantic would love to live that story. I would...Any day!!
Haven't got to talk to my brother for a while now. That's pretty unusual with me. Well, maybe I'll call him today.
Well, a lot more stuff happening in life. But as we always say, its 'nothing significant'. So, I'll call it a night here.
Take care people. Cheers :)

Just when I think I'm done...

It feels like just yesterday, that we had Saturday and our OPD and admission day and night shift and all that crap. And Saturday is here again :( How soon did the week pass by ? :(
Physiology says , your body and mind needs adequate rest.Being doctors, we all have studied it properly in our very first year of medical school. We know the disadvantages of not getting enough rest. Then why on earth are we doctors ourselves expected to work like donkeys?!?! We aren't some machines right? Why are we put on 36 hour shift and 70 hour shift and all that? Forget me, one of my friend took up MS general surgery in a government college recently. And poor fellow, he is getting to sleep only for an hour everyday for the past five days!! I mean, won't our efficiency decrease if we work like this? How much can you force your body and mind to work. When your drowsy and your mind is not analysing the history and findings and investigation reports of a patient to come to a diagnosis, forget the treatment part, whose at loss? What if you make a blunder in the treatment? At the end of the day, patients do get affected because of this right? But the world's very diplomatic. Everybody is of the opinion that, 'your a doctor. The noble profession. You should be able to handle all this'. What crap!! I wonder why shifts are so unreasonable. But I know for a fact that, nothing can be changed.
Intake of PGs and staff can be increased and work load will reduce. MBBS graduates are staying at home without PG seats and very low paid duty doctor jobs. But no. No college admits more PGs. I wonder why. When you can admit 150 students for an MBBS course, and you know that just an MBBS degree without an MS or MD leaves you nowhere, why is that you hardly have 50 seats for MD and MS? What are the others supposed to do? Stick to a 10,000 job all through life? Amazing logic ya!! Whatever it is, the hierarchy in this field is horrible. 'Rules' here, means, just what the seniors say. That's it. They are the rule makers and breakers and everything.
I'm not feeling well today. It looks like its gonna continue for tomorrow too. And tomorrow is supposed to be our busy day. How do I work when I myself am not feeling well? But yeah, I have to and I have previously worked while ill too. According to me, almost every intern and pg would have. Nobody in the hospital bothers about it. If at all I go and ask for leave, I won't get it because tomorrow is duty day and moreover, even if i get it, my leave for shruthi's wedding will get cancelled. Heights!!
My friends who I used to hang out with all these years have now shifted to Bangalore and elsewhere because most of my friends are engineers and are working in Metros. They come to Mysore only on weekends and they laugh at me when I say I'm at work!! Wow!! Amazing na? Life is screwed up if your weekends are screwed up yaar.
Anyways, I'm in this department for two more weekends. I'm on leave next weekend and that leaves me with only one Saturday duty and that's tomorrow. Hope things go easy tomorrow and hope my leave for the next weekend doesn't get cancelled. Want to get done with this..ASAP

Friends :)
- When you went to school those days by auto-rickshaw or bus.
- When sombody bullied you at school and you wanted someone to slap that person back.
- When you wanted to share the paratha your mom made and you were proud of.
- When you wanted to tell someone that you got your first crush!
- When you wanted to share that something wrong happened- be it silly or horrible.
- When you drove to college, the very first day.
- When you were sitting in the last bench during class, and wanted to play tic-tac-toe.
- When you wanted to sms somebody when the lecture was boring.
- When you wanted to decide what to wear for your first date.
- When you wanted a solution for you attendance shortage.
- When you ran out of cash, and needed some urgently.
- When you bunked classes and went to canteen or movie or even, 'sight-seeing'!
- When.... well, maybe almost every other moment in life..
Haven't you needed a friend all this while? Well, I have. And I'm sure you have to. I went out with my friends today evening after quite a few days. And I was so glad I did.I enjoy every single time I'm with them. Everybody does.
"Friends"... That word means a whole lot on earth. Each friend is like a new world. A world that's not open until you meet him/her. But yet, you feel that world is very familiar to you. A friend is someone who knows you through and through. Someone who knows the song of your life, and will prompt you when you lose track. A
friend is someone who'll be there for you, when he'd rather be anywhere else. A friend is not someone who cries when you get hurt, but someone who tries to make sure that you don't get hurt. A friend is someone who trusts in you, even when you don't. A friend is someone whom you'll love your evening walks with. A friend is someone whose your all-time company to party with. A friend is someone who'd stand by you when the whole world laughs at you, and yet, laugh at your silliest of silly jokes. A friend is someone who would be your dairy, to keep your secrets actually as secrets. A friend is a philosopher and guide. Someone who might not know whats right for him/her, but for sure knows whats wrong for you. Someone whose not family, yet means family. Someone who'd be proud to know you, and flaunt it too. Someone for whom, your spouse would instantly become jiju or bhabhi. Someone who you might talk to after ages, and yet feel so comfortable. Someone, who I feel, I would write on and on about.. They mean a lot more than what I can write here. Infact they mean a whole new thing every other day!! I'm glad God created friends. Who said we make friends? Friends are born to be :) Infact, Friendship exists in every relationship, but in a very subtle way.
I'm glad I have a few really really good friends whose friendship I would cherish forever and ever. Thanks for being there guys. You make life fun :) Heege koole maadana ;)
Friends may not mean your life, but they definitely make life worth living :)
p.s.: I'd like to dedicate this to my best friends- Ashi, Nammu, Appu, Vivek, Chandu, Rakshi, Shru, Dhanni, few people from my college and a few more. Apologies appealed for the names not mentioned. It goes to every single friend of mine, whose made my life blessed :) Love you guys :)

Heights of co-incidence!!!
One extremely funny thing happened today. I and my co-intern happened to wear the same coloured attire with the same kind of prints too!! Both of us wore white and blue with circular prints. The shade of blue was same too. It was an extreme co-incidence. I didn't even know that she had a dress of this sort ( being with her since 4.5 years, I actually am kind of aware of the dresses she owns). Maybe it would go unnoticed. But since we both are in the same unit and always working together, every other person couldn't help but notice it.From nurses, to our friends, to PGs to Unit chief too!! And the comments we got, were really weird. Here are a few:
-->"Are you twins?" ( that was really weird. Our clothes might have been twins. but how can we be?)
--> One of the my friend pointed at my co-intern and said, "Look look, Chandana's there!!" Duh!!
--> "Did you both get these dresses in any 'buy one,get one free' offer?" Oh gosh!
--> "Are you celebrating any white and blue day?"
--> "Has any uniform system been started in your unit?" Yeah dude, thats the only thing pending now!!
Others were decent enough to ask, "hey, how come same kind of dresses?"Thank god!! But the above mentioned comments-@$*^&@*&"~. We felt like going home and changing! But unfortunately, sugery postings doesn't give you so much time. But the next time I'd wear this dress to hospital, I'd surely call my colleague and confirm that she isn't wearing the same dress that day. We took a snap of ours too to remember this 'once in a lifetime' incident. I showed the snap to my mom, and she started laughing too!!Heights ya!!

Im back with poetry :)
How would you feel if you ate your favourite dish after one whole year?
How would you feel if you sat by the riverside with your best friend after one whole year?
How would you feel if you played your favourite game after one whole year?
Great! Awesome! Amazing! Fantastic! Whoo! Yippee! or maybe even, 'Words can't explain'... Right?
Yeah right, that's how I'm feeling right now. I'm back to something!!. Something I really loved doing. Something that always gave me bliss. Something that always brought a smile on my face. Something which people associated me with. Something for which I was appreciated. Something for which, my family felt proud of me. Something for which, my friends gifted me presents. Something for which, the guy I had a crush on, liked me too. Something which allowed me to play my favourite game-to play with words. Something which made me feel the world is indeed beautiful. Something which made me feel that I'm quite the romantic. Something, which somehow, was a reason for me to be glad. Something, which I thought, I would never live without. Yeah, I'm back to POETRY!!
Hadn't written since almost a year, except for two poems. If I think back in retro, I actually don't find a reason as to why I stopped writing. But when I realised that I have stopped writing poetry and I ought to start writing, there I had- 'a block'!! I don't know how and why, but I really couldn't write for a long time. Thoughts and words never got the flow and I didn't want to force them too. But now, fortunately, I'm back with poems. I wrote one today. And the best part was, it just crossed my mind within no time and there, I had it on paper :). Though I feel I'm amateur yet, and I still have the habit of being lazy enough not to edit and refine my poems, I'm really glad that I started writing poems again :) I true and pure heartedly implore to God, that I don't ever get to stop writing poems, ever in my life . :)

May I consult Dr.Chandana please?
Then, for some reason, I turn around and see, and I find that, THE PATIENT IS ACTUALLY WAITING FOR ME!!!. I was shocked, speechless, wondering what my staff would think about it ,and happy too.
Now the explaination for her waiting for me goes like this. This particular lady had come to the OPD last week too and wanted a female doctor to examine her and she was pretty scared about something regarding her health. As I was the only female doctor around, I did examine her, but rest of the diagnosis and treatment part was done by my senior. That time, it has so happened that she has got to know my name from my name-plate. Now,this week, when she has come for follow-up, she is asking for Dr. Chandana!!!
Whoo!!! Felt good in one way. It's a completely different story that it'll be my seniors who will be doing the needful for her and I'm here just as an intern, still in my learning process. But when most of the patients address you as 'Sister'(Patients think any young girl in an apron is a nurse!!! weird!!!) and you keep snapping back at them saying 'I'm a doctor', if a patient asks for you and waits for you, it is but obvious that you will feel good right? When at times, you don't even get the respect that the para-medical staff get, by you very own staff, if somebody is respecting you as a 'Dr' , you will feel glad right? When most of the time you are doing clerical work at the hospital, if a patient actually wants you to treat her, you will feel great right? :) Nice :) :)

Surgery, so far... so good :)
Coming from minor postings and having so much work to do and not knowing how things are to be done felt a huge transition. Days passed and I got used to it. There was more work compared to other unit interns, but then, it all boils down to one thing. If the people who your working with are cool enough, everything goes on smoothly. So did it happen. The profs in my unit weren't 'very' cranky and P.G.s in the unit were really cool. I used to get my share of work to do, no running away from it. But I used to get enough time to do it too. No unreasonable time limit and stuff. Do your work, and your fine. Got to assist surgeries. Learnt a few things too. Felt for sometime atleast that I'm actually a medical intern and not just somebody doing some clerical work, filling forms etc.
There are a few things I have realised in the past few days during my postings here, and few are from some people around:
1. Always have Confidence, come what may. That's going to be your ultimate lifeline.
2. Everybody has workload. Learn to get on with it. Never crib about it for the whole day. Get done with it and then enjoy the remaining part of the day.Be bindaas.
3. Your here for something, keep that in mind first. First things first.
4. Don't believe in somebody else's opinion about people. Make your own. It differs big time. Trust me on that!! Opinions are very very subjective.
Well, a month more to go and I foresee a few changes too. Lets see how it goes :)

ENT and Ophthal
And hey, I did a Tonsillectomy during Ent postings :). Interns doing it is a rarity in our college. Very rare sure. But I got to do it. Luck by chance I guess. All thanks to my Unit Chief and more than that, my PGs ya!! Ashwini and Sandhya- two amazing people I've met. 30 years from now, if somebody asks me about my ENT postings, there will be two things I'd remember. One- that I did a tonsillectomy. And two- the two PGs in the unit.I cherish that I worked with them for a while. You might find PGs who are friendly, fun to be with, not so cranky and all that. But if your searching for those who are all these and 'kiddos' at heart and mischievous and so very nice to each other, you better go to these two. You just don't feel that they are your seniors. Spending time with them is just the way, when you are with your friends. It was 'really' fun being with them :). Well, all happy things come to an end. So did my one month of ENT and Ophthal. Now into surgery, first few days were hectic. I'm the lone intern for the time being.So.. Anyways, there are a few things that are making the postings a bit comfortable. So, lets see.. Wait for further updates :)

So Pink - Part 2
Once upon a time, my brother gifted me a perfume. It was called 'So Pink'. The bottle is transparent and the perfume is pink in colour. It's name 'So pink' caught my attention. Felt that some body's named it nicely.I told this to my friend 'X'. I had a huge crush on a guy that particular time and this friend 'X' knew about it. So, when I told her about this perfume's name, I absolutely have no idea what circuits got connected in her brain, that she came with the weirdest of thoughts. She said "Oh, from now on, every time you use the perfume, your guy will love it and will fall for you. That's the effect of 'pink'". I was rolling on the floor when I heard this. She too laughed and everybody there laughed too. But co-incidentally, every time since then that I have used this perfume, some nice thing has happened regarding that guy. Either I've got to see him or talk to him or something. I've tried it on experiment basis too!! And its worked!!! I know you will say its weird. I myself say its weird. But then, truth is truth. I finally end up smiling about it.Every time :)

Diamonds are forever

My parents bought me a 'princess cut diamond ear studs and a pendant with chain set'. Occasion? Oh, nothing like that. Just coz I passed MBBS :) And I loved it. My family loved it. My friends loved it. The jeweller loved it too!!. Lolz. Infact,I'm just running around fishing for compliments ;).
I'm loving wearing the studs everyday. Every morning I look into the mirror, these are the first things I notice. It makes me feel so good that it instantly gets a smile on my face. Not just because they are expensive or anything. But just for the fact that they look so damn pretty and chic and elegant and classic and what not. I go speechless. Absolutely speechless. Just feel lke looking at them all the while. Feels like its making me look pretty. Feels like I'm special. The fact that its my 'first diamond' makes it feel much more special. The fact that the best member of my family(my mom) and one of my best friend were with me when I bought it, makes it feel further more special. All in all, I couldn't have asked for something better. I expected a far more smaller and simpler one than this. The one I got happened to be lottery!!. I'm so very thankful to my parents for that. I'm somebody who cherishes the smallest of small joys of life. And this one is a 'feast'. Trust me girls, to know what diamonds really do to you, you should actually own one. You will feel a princess.Nothing less than that. :) I'm as glad as I could be. No two ways about it. I'm smiling while I'm writing this too. :) :) :) :)

PS- Susten is a drug from a medical company. And drug companies give gifts to doctors usually. Titan Bandhan is the name of the watch set that they gave. Now try reading the line the Rep said, you shall get it I guess :).

Happy Mother's Day :)

"God could not be everywhere, so he created mothers" - Jewish proverb.
That's my mom's fav phrase. I've seen that written on the first page of many of her books. I'm glad God created my mom. I'm more glad that he made me her daughter. What do I say about mom? What can anybody say about their moms? The only word that you can use to describe her is 'Great'. Or maybe something larger than that. She takes care of you since even before you were born. She considers you a kid even when your forty years old. For her, your nothing but her heart, walking outside her body. You mean the world to her. Your happiness is hers. She understands everything- things you say, things you don't say and even things that you yourself don't understand. Mom is one word, for an ocean of love and care. No matter how much any person in the world loves you, nobody can beat your mom on that. Can write pages about her, and yet, it will definitely remain incomplete.
All the while I wrote this, the only person I had in front of my eyes was 'My Mom'. She's somebody I look up to as an idol. Not is she just a great mom, but an amazing doctor too. I wonder from where she gets the time, energy and willpower to work the quantity she does, both at the hospital and at home, and yet, smile always. I've hardly seen my mom crib. She loves what she does. I know for a fact that she gets a lot of problems. But not once does she let anybody get a clue of it. She's one ideal example of a woman. For all that my sister and I have got from her, today I want to thank her. For all the love she's given us. For all the care we got. For all the minute to minute things she gave us, whose importance we never realised. For trusting in our stupidest thoughts and decisions. For being our watchman(watch woman) all through life. For being everything from a baby sitter to a study partner to a guide to a friend to everything. For being a partner in crime in our mischiefs(harmless ones) and a shoulder to cry on when sad. For lending a helping hand when we failed and shedding tears of joy when we succeeded. For laughing on our weirdest jokes and feeling hurt for our minor bruises. For letting us know that she is someone we can always count on, and for forgiving us when we hurt her. For having the courage to let us learn from our own mistakes at times. Oh Mom, I'd write pages and I'd never complete the things you do for us. Thanks for everything and everything and more everything. Thanks for being that amazing person you are. We feel very very proud when we say 'I'm Dr.Shylaja's daughter'. And we shall work hard to make you feel proud to be our mom. And hey, you still are very pretty :) Love you loads. :)
Had a nice Mother's day today. Wished mom, gave her a gift, got pooja done at the temple. Got her cake and partied. She treated us pizza for dinner. Had a lovely day.

p.s.: My Mom helped three more ladies become Moms today. Didn't get it? She did three caesarian sections today. So three babies delivered. So three new moms :) And hey, Mom loved the gift I gave her :) She was very happy. And I'm happy that she was happy :)
