Sat-Nav-Sys ne kaha...

Okay. Found this interesting. Got it on Bikram's blog. The thing here is, suppose you have a Satellite Navigation System in your car, what would be the weird things it can tell you? Just to put ur creative grey mater to work. If any of you wanna try it, do take it up and leave the link to your blog here. Here are the lines that crossed my mind .

"Wrong address? Dude, you said 'girlfriend's place'. And this is my girlfriend's place. There's the car!!"

"Can you shut the AC please? I have a freaking viral."

"That's 'Miss Long Legs'. Pick her up, pick her up."

"Hey brother, I speak. You listen!!"

"Don't you know this is a 'no-fart' zone?"

"When is your next car change due?"

"You better be nice to me , or I'm gonna drive you straight to hell!!"

"My nap-time. Do not disturb."

"You still go for 'lunch-dates'? Grow up! Whats the curfew at your place? 8 pm?"

"Don't hit on the horn so hard! If Mrs. Steering Wheel gets angry, she's gonna lock herself up!"

"You're such a Saint. You don't even kiss in the car!"

"Don't you get that nephew of yours here again. He meddles with me like I'm a PSP"

"No. Not that one. Give the keys to the valet at that corner. I'm all hots for her ;)"

"My ex's boyfriend is in the car ahead. Can you bang it for me please?"

"Hum tum...ek car mein bandh ho.... Aur lock ho jaaye ;)"

Microfiction Monday #3

Here's for Microfiction Monday. I got two takes on it this time. Enjoy it n take it on :)

"Three old saints of wood we are,
Mourning today, our Ace went afar.
May his pure soul rest in peace,
May there be no more worries." [;-)]

and

"We four saints went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water,
Jack fell down, had an already broken crown,
But had no Jill, to come after"

p.s.- Bit busy, will read your blogs soon.

Have a nice week ahead,

When bored, at the Lib.

Got bored while studying at the library today. At the library I go to, people seem to have some sort of a 'syndrome'. Seems like they need 'studying' to be alive and not air and water.I obviously don't have company to loaf around when I get bored. So I try to just look around myself. I look for some eye candy ( which I spotted only once till now and then, he too seemed gay), count the number of broken window panes, see how far the spider on the wall has moved since yesterday, count the number of people without spectacles (coz that's easier than counting the ones with spectacles there!!) and so on. Today, was just flipping through the pages of my notebook, and happened to open the last page, where 'amazing facts' were given. Few were kinda amusing actually. I'll tell you.

"The combination 'o-u-g-h' can be pronounced in nine different ways. the following sentence contains them all. A rough coated, dough-faced, thoughtful plough man strode through the streets of Scarborough; after falling into a slough, he coughs and hiccoughed"... I guess the bugger who sat and searched for the words with these pronunciations and then went to frame a meaningful sentence with them was as bored as I was!!

"Do you have 'pnigophobia'? It's the fear of choking on fish bones". .. Well, I don't have it. But my vegetarian mom does, when I am eating fish!. Wonder when she'll realise that I'm a pro at having fish. Yummy!! I love sea food :-). Been a while since I had it though :-( .

"'Caligynephobia' is the fear of beautiful women".. Such a waste that this word was coined. Will anybody ever suffer from that? Men? No ways!! That will be the biggest joke on earth. Women? well, the only thing a woman can feel about another beautiful woman is jealousy, nothing else.

I repent giving my lecturers gaalis ( in my mind ofcourse) when I used to enter late to class and he/she would yell, "how dare U enter late? ". Little did I know till today that they were yelling at the alphabet "U" and not me! Wondering what and how? Because, "The original English alphabet had only 24 letters. J and U joined the alphabet much later!".

Wrote this at the lib. Thank goodness there was nobody sitting in my immediate neighbourhood and hence nobody saw me doing this. Else I would have surely been called either an alien or a looser. Was at the lib and not studying you see ;-)

p.s.- I miss the chit-chatting, gossiping, sight-seeing [;-)], sleeping (and studying ofcourse) and the nescafe sessions we used to have at my college library during my college days.. Was fun :).

Keep smiling,

Microfiction Monday #1

"Microfiction Monday". Got it from Susan's Blog. In simple words, Susan puts up a picture and anybody who wants to, can write about the picture- but, in 140 characters. That's it. For more details, go to Susan's blog Stony River. Found it exciting. Doing it for the first time ;-)

Here's the picture...

And here's my take:

"Two make a couple,
Three make a crowd.
Where on earth is mine?
Shall go look around."

Advantages Of Being Single ;-)

  • You can sleep at night with your phone on silent mode.
  • You don't have to explain to anybody as to why his call was on waiting.
  • You can have a more expensive phone than he has, with no worries of 'hurting his ego'.
  • Spending money can mean a lot more things than recharging your phone every other day.
  • You don't have to explain to anybody as to who sent you that non-veg joke.
  • You can talk to any guy and message anybody 'whats up?', and not feel guilty about it.
  • You can check-out any guy... and his body too ;).
  • Harmless flirting will actually be harmless now.
  • You don't have to make any rakhi-brothers.
  • You can have your own take on 'size zero' .
  • You don't have to adore somebody's family, when they think you're a jerk.
  • Weekends can mean pyjama parties at your girlfriend's place.
  • You don't have to convince anybody to let you get drunk at a pub. And now that you're single, men notice you more. So, that very much means free drinks at the bar ;).
  • Movie night outs now can have romantic, cheesy movies and chick flicks.
  • You don't have to have a separate birthday treat for your friends coz you were with him on your birthday
  • You don't have to put up with any mood swings.
  • You can party hard when you passed an exam, no matter 'whoever' flunked.
  • Your password can infact be a secret.
  • Your password need not be somebody's name, and it can even be your ex's name.
  • You don't have to lie to your parents that books are costlier nowadays, coz you don't need that extra money to spend on anyone now.
  • You don't have to tolerate some moron friend of his, calling you 'bhabhiji'.

  • You don't have to lie to your parents and msg your gal friend-"I've told mom that I'm going out with you and will be late in the evening. If mom calls, tell the same."
  • You don’t have to wonder before buying anything you like, “I hope he likes this!".
  • Now that your money, time, energy and peace of mind is saved, you can have day-offs at the spa!! Enjoy :)

Any more?? Add on people :)

p.s. 1- this one is more of being a single 'woman', coz i can think from a woman's perspective ;-). Any more additions from u people, I'd love to put it up here :)

p.s. 2- One person who commented on this said that it looked like I wrote this while listening to myself. Well, no!!! This is a compilation of inferences from what I've seen in mine and others' lives.Just because I would be in a relationship, I would never let my life go so pathetic, that i wouldn't be able to live it my way and would need a change. No way!!! :)

Cheers,
Chandana C. Shekar :)

F-M-L ! ! !

I, for the last few hours thought things were being mean to me for no fault of mine. But as they say, 'always look at the brighter side'. Things could have gone worse. There are things that go a lot more worse with a lot of people. Sometimes, your heart goes to them sure when you listen to their stories. But quite a few times, when things are not so grave, and just bad enough to make your jaw open up in awe, it might make you laugh, but can be really embarrassing to the person who goes through it. You may end up laughing at their plight, but had you been in their place, you would've had a pain in your ass too!!Need examples? How are these?

"Today when I was talking to my boyfriend over lunch about how hectic my work is and how stressed out I am, coz of my job, he took out his phone and said his boss is texting and it is important. But I could see the reflection of the game of tetris reflecting onto his glasses from the phone!!"

"I saw a kid crying and stopped and asked him as to what happened. All I got, was a kick in my groin"

"Today I discovered that a $40 phone cover does not protect a $500 phone when a 5 year old throws it down from a 4th floor balcony"

"Today I received a text message from my sister saying, 'Good that technologies in condoms have improved so much this day, that mistakes like you don't happen anymore'.Today's my birthday"

One thing that is common with all of these instances, is that, all these lines are followed by, 'f my life!". Wondering where I heard these? Well, I read them . At http://www.fmylife.com/. No prizes for guessing what 'f' stands for!! Check out the site for more. Maybe it'll make you feel better when you feel that your life sucks. Maybe a stress buster. Or maybe a simple time pass!! I feel, it's worth a check, once at least :)

Heights of co-incidence!!!

How much can be a co-incidence? Two girls having the same kind of dress? Both of them being friends? Both of them being colleagues, working within the same 4 walls, almost always next to each other? Both of them wearing those dresses the same day? Well,Trust me, I'd say- ALL OF IT!!

One extremely funny thing happened today. I and my co-intern happened to wear the same coloured attire with the same kind of prints too!! Both of us wore white and blue with circular prints. The shade of blue was same too. It was an extreme co-incidence. I didn't even know that she had a dress of this sort ( being with her since 4.5 years, I actually am kind of aware of the dresses she owns). Maybe it would go unnoticed. But since we both are in the same unit and always working together, every other person couldn't help but notice it.From nurses, to our friends, to PGs to Unit chief too!! And the comments we got, were really weird. Here are a few:

-->"Are you twins?" ( that was really weird. Our clothes might have been twins. but how can we be?)
--> One of the my friend pointed at my co-intern and said, "Look look, Chandana's there!!" Duh!!
--> "Did you both get these dresses in any 'buy one,get one free' offer?" Oh gosh!
--> "Are you celebrating any white and blue day?"
--> "Has any uniform system been started in your unit?" Yeah dude, thats the only thing pending now!!

Others were decent enough to ask, "hey, how come same kind of dresses?"Thank god!! But the above mentioned comments-@$*^&@*&"~. We felt like going home and changing! But unfortunately, sugery postings doesn't give you so much time. But the next time I'd wear this dress to hospital, I'd surely call my colleague and confirm that she isn't wearing the same dress that day. We took a snap of ours too to remember this 'once in a lifetime' incident. I showed the snap to my mom, and she started laughing too!!Heights ya!!

So Pink - Part 2

The title of my previous blog reminds me of an incident.A weird and funny one though :)

Once upon a time, my brother gifted me a perfume. It was called 'So Pink'. The bottle is transparent and the perfume is pink in colour. It's name 'So pink' caught my attention. Felt that some body's named it nicely.I told this to my friend 'X'. I had a huge crush on a guy that particular time and this friend 'X' knew about it. So, when I told her about this perfume's name, I absolutely have no idea what circuits got connected in her brain, that she came with the weirdest of thoughts. She said "Oh, from now on, every time you use the perfume, your guy will love it and will fall for you. That's the effect of 'pink'". I was rolling on the floor when I heard this. She too laughed and everybody there laughed too. But co-incidentally, every time since then that I have used this perfume, some nice thing has happened regarding that guy. Either I've got to see him or talk to him or something. I've tried it on experiment basis too!! And its worked!!! I know you will say its weird. I myself say its weird. But then, truth is truth. I finally end up smiling about it.Every time :)

Heights of advertising!!!

My parents are doctors and their clinics are in the same building. One Medical representative comes to my Dad's clinic and requests him to come to my Mom's cabin. My dad goes on with it, though confused. Once in my mom's cabin, the Rep takes out a box and hands over a ladies' watch to my Dad and asks him to give it to my mom. My Dad's mind starts telling him that something is wrong with this guy for sure. My Mom has the same opinion. Then he gives my Mom a men's watch and asks her to give it to my Dad. So she does and both my parents are laughing by now. And then goes the Rep in full zeal - " We are from Susten Sir and Ma'm. This is 'Sustain with Bandhan'. We are in bandhan with you, and you are in bandhan with each other"!! My Dad thinks they are funny. and my Mom thinks, whoever made this ad, is definitely an alien!!! Oh god, how can somebody come up with ideas like this?!?!?! I and my sister end up laughing and laughing and laughing :)

PS- Susten is a drug from a medical company. And drug companies give gifts to doctors usually. Titan Bandhan is the name of the watch set that they gave. Now try reading the line the Rep said, you shall get it I guess :).

Weird..

I was watching TV and just surfing through the channels. In Sony entertainment TV, there is a show called 'Specials at 10'. In that, there is a serial called 'heroine' ( I too got to know just now) directed by Madhur Bhandarkar. It was time for ads, and there is this note thats being shown, which said something like 'Madhur Bhandarkar shoots realistic films. And to shoot for a film based on prison, he visited a real jail to get to know about the life of the inmates of the prison'... Duh!!! Why the hell does that need to be told as a great thing?!?!? Come on yaar, if you want to do a film on the inmates of the prison, obviously you will have to visit the prison!!! A lot of people who make documentaries do visit the prison!!!. Glamour world u see,, anything and everything they do ( and don't do) becomes 'News'!!!!

Chandana C. Shekar

Friends!!! Huh!!!

In life, you get into a deja-vu kinda situations at times. There's a dialogue in the movie 'Bridget Jones' Diary - The edge of reason' which goes as - "Friends, they spend years trying to get you a boyfriend ; and the moment you get one, they instanstly tell you to dump him"..

I just felt something of the same sort today. I found a guy cute, and told a friend of mine about it as soon as I happened to talk to him. And I showed him his snap too. Mind you, I just find him cute. Just a crush that will pass away in no time. And yet, my friend instantly said "HE LOOKS GAY"!!! And he is assuring me about it too!!!Whoo...Now, thats quite a bit!!!

p.s. - I made him admit later that the guy in question doesn't look gay :)
