Surgery, so far... so good :)

I report to Surgery Postings on saturday morning at 9. And I'm on continous duty till monday evening 5, making it a good whole 56 hour shift!!! Unfortunately, I'm supposed to be the only intern as my co-intern is at rotation postings at the Paediatric Surgery department for ten days. And unfortunately again, the junior PG is on leave. And more unfortunately, there are a lot of admissions for those two days. :(

Coming from minor postings and having so much work to do and not knowing how things are to be done felt a huge transition. Days passed and I got used to it. There was more work compared to other unit interns, but then, it all boils down to one thing. If the people who your working with are cool enough, everything goes on smoothly. So did it happen. The profs in my unit weren't 'very' cranky and P.G.s in the unit were really cool. I used to get my share of work to do, no running away from it. But I used to get enough time to do it too. No unreasonable time limit and stuff. Do your work, and your fine. Got to assist surgeries. Learnt a few things too. Felt for sometime atleast that I'm actually a medical intern and not just somebody doing some clerical work, filling forms etc.

There are a few things I have realised in the past few days during my postings here, and few are from some people around:
1. Always have Confidence, come what may. That's going to be your ultimate lifeline.
2. Everybody has workload. Learn to get on with it. Never crib about it for the whole day. Get done with it and then enjoy the remaining part of the day.Be bindaas.
3. Your here for something, keep that in mind first. First things first.
4. Don't believe in somebody else's opinion about people. Make your own. It differs big time. Trust me on that!! Opinions are very very subjective.

Well, a month more to go and I foresee a few changes too. Lets see how it goes :)

ENT and Ophthal

Done with ENT and Ophthal postings. One cool month. Over and out with it.:( Life was 'cool' these days. No post opd and post op duties.No staff shouting at you- Thats because the PGs there form your armour and they get all the shoutings and yellings and screamings and 'gaalis' too. And that makes you so very protected :) Amazing PGs ya. Really, very friendly.Schedule there for interns was so very simple.Roam around, chit chat, sit in OPD,do clerical work(lolz)...Life just passes.. Wow!!! Now that I'm into surgery postings, I miss those days. I really do. Minors were fun.I feel like I'm doing the whole last month's work in 3 or 4 days now.

And hey, I did a Tonsillectomy during Ent postings :). Interns doing it is a rarity in our college. Very rare sure. But I got to do it. Luck by chance I guess.All thanks to my Unit Chief and more than that, my PGs ya!! Ashwini and Sandhya- two amazing people I've met. 30 years from now, if somebody asks me about my ENT postings, there will be two things I'd remember. One- that I did a tonsillectomy. And two- the two PGs in the unit.I cherish that I worked with them for a while. You might find PGs who are friendly, fun to be with, not so cranky and all that. But if your searching for those who are all these and 'kiddos' at heart and mischievous and so very nice to each other, you better go to these two. You just don't feel that they are your seniors. Spending time with them is just the way, when you are with your friends. It was 'really' fun being with them :). Well, all happy things come to an end. So did my one month of ENT and Ophthal. Now into surgery, first few days were hectic. I'm the lone intern for the time being.So.. Anyways, there are a few things that are making the postings a bit comfortable. So, lets see.. Wait for further updates :)

So Pink - Part 2

The title of my previous blog reminds me of an incident.A weird and funny one though :)

Once upon a time, my brother gifted me a perfume. It was called 'So Pink'. The bottle is transparent and the perfume is pink in colour. It's name 'So pink' caught my attention. Felt that some body's named it nicely.I told this to my friend 'X'. I had a huge crush on a guy that particular time and this friend 'X' knew about it. So, when I told her about this perfume's name, I absolutely have no idea what circuits got connected in her brain, that she came with the weirdest of thoughts. She said "Oh, from now on, every time you use the perfume, your guy will love it and will fall for you. That's the effect of 'pink'". I was rolling on the floor when I heard this. She too laughed and everybody there laughed too. But co-incidentally, every time since then that I have used this perfume, some nice thing has happened regarding that guy. Either I've got to see him or talk to him or something. I've tried it on experiment basis too!! And its worked!!! I know you will say its weird. I myself say its weird. But then, truth is truth. I finally end up smiling about it.Every time :)

So pink!!!

I log into my blog after days together and the first thing I notice? 'Why on earth is my blog so pink?!?!?!'. It looks like some 'Legally Blonde' effect!!! But then, its something I myself have put up a few days ago na? Did my liking for it change so soon? U never know!!! Pink is not my favourite colour. I'm not that very girly-girly. But I don't mind using pink. Infact, I like a few things in pink. But still, my blog is looking extremely pinky!!! So me changing it - stat!!! :)

People who have seen the pinky template are most welcome to compare it with the new one :)

Diamonds are forever

"Diamonds are forever"... "Diamonds are a girl's best friends"... So go the lyrics of two evergreen songs. And its so very true. I can swear on it. Asking why? Coz I just got 'MY FIRST DIAMONDS'. And I'm on cloud nine. Or cloud 10..11...12 rather ;)

My parents bought me a 'princess cut diamond ear studs and a pendant with chain set'. Occasion? Oh, nothing like that. Just coz I passed MBBS :) And I loved it. My family loved it. My friends loved it. The jeweller loved it too!!. Lolz. Infact,I'm just running around fishing for compliments ;).

I'm loving wearing the studs everyday. Every morning I look into the mirror, these are the first things I notice. It makes me feel so good that it instantly gets a smile on my face. Not just because they are expensive or anything. But just for the fact that they look so damn pretty and chic and elegant and classic and what not. I go speechless. Absolutely speechless. Just feel lke looking at them all the while. Feels like its making me look pretty. Feels like I'm special. The fact that its my 'first diamond' makes it feel much more special. The fact that the best member of my family(my mom) and one of my best friend were with me when I bought it, makes it feel further more special. All in all, I couldn't have asked for something better. I expected a far more smaller and simpler one than this.The one I got happened to be lottery!!. I'm so very thankful to my parents for that. I'm somebody who cherishes the smallest of small joys of life. And this one is a 'feast'. Trust me girls, to know what diamonds really do to you, you should actually own one. You will feel a princess.Nothing less than that. :) I'm as glad as I could be. No two ways about it. I'm smiling while I'm writing this too. :) :) :) :)

Heights of advertising!!!

My parents are doctors and their clinics are in the same building. One Medical representative comes to my Dad's clinic and requests him to come to my Mom's cabin. My dad goes on with it, though confused. Once in my mom's cabin, the Rep takes out a box and hands over a ladies' watch to my Dad and asks him to give it to my mom. My Dad's mind starts telling him that something is wrong with this guy for sure. My Mom has the same opinion. Then he gives my Mom a men's watch and asks her to give it to my Dad. So she does and both my parents are laughing by now. And then goes the Rep in full zeal - " We are from Susten Sir and Ma'm. This is 'Sustain with Bandhan'. We are in bandhan with you, and you are in bandhan with each other"!! My Dad thinks they are funny. and my Mom thinks, whoever made this ad, is definitely an alien!!! Oh god, how can somebody come up with ideas like this?!?!?! I and my sister end up laughing and laughing and laughing :)

PS- Susten is a drug from a medical company. And drug companies give gifts to doctors usually. Titan Bandhan is the name of the watch set that they gave. Now try reading the line the Rep said, you shall get it I guess :).

Happy Mother's Day :)

"God could not be everywhere, so he created mothers" - Jewish proverb.

That's my mom's fav phrase. I've seen that written on the first page of many of her books. I'm glad God created my mom. I'm more glad that he made me her daughter. What do I say about mom? What can anybody say about their moms? The only word that you can use to describe her is 'Great'. Or maybe something larger than that. She takes care of you since even before you were born. She considers you a kid even when your forty years old. For her, your nothing but her heart, walking outside her body. You mean the world to her. Your happiness is hers. She understands everything- things you say, things you don't say and even things that you yourself don't understand. Mom is one word, for an ocean of love and care. No matter how much any person in the world loves you, nobody can beat your mom on that. Can write pages about her, and yet, it will definitely remain incomplete.

All the while I wrote this, the only person I had in front of my eyes was 'My Mom'. She's somebody I look up to as an idol. Not is she just a great mom, but an amazing doctor too. I wonder from where she gets the time, energy and willpower to work the quantity she does, both at the hospital and at home, and yet, smile always. I've hardly seen my mom crib. She loves what she does. I know for a fact that she gets a lot of problems. But not once does she let anybody get a clue of it. She's one ideal example of a woman. For all that my sister and I have got from her, today I want to thank her. For all the love she's given us. For all the care we got. For all the minute to minute things she gave us, whose importance we never realised. For trusting in our stupidest thoughts and decisions. For being our watchman(watch woman) all through life. For being everything from a baby sitter to a study partner to a guide to a friend to everything. For being a partner in crime in our mischiefs(harmless ones) and a shoulder to cry on when sad. For lending a helping hand when we failed and shedding tears of joy when we succeeded. For laughing on our weirdest jokes and feeling hurt for our minor bruises. For letting us know that she is someone we can always count on, and for forgiving us when we hurt her. For having the courage to let us learn from our own mistakes at times. Oh Mom, I'd write pages and I'd never complete the things you do for us. Thanks for everything and everything and more everything. Thanks for being that amazing person you are. We feel very very proud when we say 'I'm Dr.Shylaja's daughter'. And we shall work hard to make you feel proud to be our mom. And hey, you still are very pretty :) Love you loads. :)

Had a nice Mother's day today. Wished mom, gave her a gift, got pooja done at the temple. Got her cake and partied. She treated us pizza for dinner. Had a lovely day.


p.s.: My Mom helped three more ladies become Moms today. Didn't get it? She did three caesarian sections today. So three babies delivered. So three new moms :) And hey, Mom loved the gift I gave her :) She was very happy.And I'm happy that she was happy :)

I'm back :)

When your back, you should be back with a bang. I wanna be back. Back on my very own blog. Back on something I was obsessed with, a while ago. But I have nothing exciting in life that I be back with a so called 'bang'.!! Anyways, first things first- a honest acknowledgement to Nazish Rehman- for being such a punctual follower of my blog, that he instantly commented on my last post too (which I wrote after really long). I had thought that the followers of my blog might have even stopped following my blog, because my absence was for long. But you proved me wrong Nazish!! Thanks so much :) I appreciate it. :)

What do I talk about? Work? aarrgghh!! Anything but not that. Im bugged and disgusted and irritated with JSSH. I get irritated even while driving on the road that leads to JSSH. The friends group that I hang out with, went on a trip to ooty. And guess what!, I missed it! :( Thanks to the postings at hospital. I couldn't get leave :( These are the people I enjoy life most with and I couldnt make it to the trip with them:( God knows if this trip will ever happen again. And yeah, I fell ill too. And I had to go to the hospital with fever! Not as a patient. But as a Doctor!! What rubbish. Reason? Same old thing. Couldn't get leave :(. I'm just waiting for internship to get over.

Life otherwise? Nothing happening. My best friend had come down. Had a real gala time. Enjoyed every single day. It had been a long time since I had such days filled with so much of life. Seniors had their graduation day. And I truly felt our college hosts the most boring grad day. Two friends who were a couple got engaged. Thats some nice news!! Happy for them. God bless them forever :) . An old friend, Bhargavi got married. Happy married life to her. Just can't believe that the girls who I studied and played with are already happily married!!

That's pretty much about life so far ( in the period of my absence on my blog) in short. I'll be right back again, and in full zeal . Till then, take care. Cheers :)
